Y2K and Warming

Also, any system that used a time and date based algorithm in any way would fail at the 'multiply by' and 'divide by' part when it hit the year. For example a lot of internal system 'double checks' were utilizing time / date checks, which obviously come back as zero, causing false positive errors, and complete system shutdown. This kind of thing was prevalent in older mainframe systems that performed core processes.
I personally didnt do any Y2k work myself, but was consulting for a company that had widespread issues in this area. It really was a big deal, and the impact could have been very significant had it not been remedied.
