Chuck,
Since you are a scientist and in my opinion, someone well qualified to talk on the subject, I'd like your view on a couple of issues that may (or may not) have any effect on GW. First and foremost, what is your field of expertise? If not climate issues, then how involved are you with scientists that are involved in that field?
I agree that Climate Change is happening. It has happened for billions of years, most (99.999%) of it without humans ever being around to help.
"And as far as humans contributing to it (in the past, present, and future) there is little doubt about that, either." - Chuck Bower
This statement seems to point the finger solely at humankind. Is this your intent? If so, do you actually believe that humans are solely responsible? 90% responsible? 50%?
IMHO, I do not think that humankind has the effect on it as you propose in the above sentence. I will venture that humankind does have an effect on GW, but not nearly as great as insinuated. I wonder what your thoughts are on solar radiation vis a vis GW? Isn’t that gaining more ground as a MAJOR contributor to GW? I also wonder what your thoughts are on the experts that say humankind has a severe impact on climate change. I am curious about what kind of grants (government or otherwise) would start drying up if they professed that we are just in the infant stages of learning what actually causes GW. I wonder what would happen to their credibility if they confirmed data stating that the sun has serious influence over this little earth and that humankind, though right to start implementing conservatory/recycling practices, they are NOT for the most part the cause of GW. I also wonder what would happen if all in the media gave equal coverage to the "nuts" on the other side that don't think humans are the main cause. God forbid we might actually have fair debate about what is truly going on without imposing some laws or regulations based on faulty evidence.
Faulty may be too strong a word, but it's not far off the mark.
Just some thoughts that I'd love to hear back on.
