One caution for transcribers

Bonus question. Suppose white had 3 on the ace instead. What is your play?

Hardly matters unless you do something really boneheaded like 5/1 3/2.

9/5 2/1 would be my instinctive play since it guarantees I'll take a checker off next roll and thus save gammon unless white rolls doubles.

But 9/8 5/1, 9/5 4/3, 9/5 3/2, 9/5 6/5, and 9/4 also all make the same guarantee.

What am I missing here?
