I believe if i explain nice (with a cup of hot coffee in my hand) that it is better to finish the game for several reasons and i woukd appreciate finishing, most pkayers would be kind enough to finish. If someone was obstinate about it then I would ask the tournament director to decide. Once he knows it is important enough for me to get a ruling, hopefulky he would be kind enough to change his mind. And if he still disagrees, then at least by my asking for a ruling it has taken a lot more time than finishing and at least his while argument for resigning (saving time) will have been destroyed.

And dont know many people who would not grant this small, reasonable request especially when told it is recommended by the likes of Stick and Dmitriy, but if I do come across such a person I will know just how much slack to cut them should they violate any rules.
