So, after researching this a bit more, if overclocking is your goal, you should go with the Q6600 or E8400. Q9300 has a low multiplier. However it will probably o/c to 2.75 easily enough and possibly 3.0.

It is possible to overclock the E8400 to the point where it is competitive with, or better than, the Q9300 (4.0Ghz+), but if you're going to be running them at stock, the Q9300 is definitely a standout. Also, quad cores will better serve you in the future.
