Over the board I would probably just reflexively make the five point in both cases. But now that you have made me think about it...

There is that bothersome outfield block that is going to make a lot of sixes play pretty awkwardly next time. And if he throws a four on the next roll, add 'a lot of fives' to that sentence. And a direct shot at a blot also argues for an attacking play. Since the race is pretty even getting another man back could not hurt. So...

In the match I would favor the attack. He is up against a four point board, sixteen rolls bounce, and then you might roll a five, picking up the second man (or double him out altogether). For money it has to be closer but I still think the attack might be best.

Without the blot on 16 I would favor the prime play. There now ... I have probably overthought it and anything but 13/5(2) will turn out to be a double blunder.
