Is the possibility of repeater errors not also a consideration?
Assuming, a six-prime isn't made, most entry aces look like takes apart from 1-6 and 1-3 perhaps which doesn't cover the vulnerable blot on the ace point. It's not a matter of bravery, but rather a balance of risks given the fact that most humans can only make educated guesses in these positions unless they accumulated and studied a load of relevant reference positions in this area of the game. To me the risks although small appear the outweigh the gains which appear to be even smaller because the gammon wins look to be very small.
