It seems clear to me that tighter time constraints benefit me as a less deeply numerate player. I'm quite confident that I "max out" the benefits of mental calculation far sooner than my more sophisticated opponents.

I would venture to say that in any contest with a substantially more adept mental calculator, I would very happily cut both the bank time and the move allotment by half.

My impression is that I would not be able to negotiate these terms in an actual tournament -- we all must play by the set rules, yes?
