Is this like tipping casino staff overly generously helps to reduce your winnings, but you don't lose anything there?

Seriously, Dmitriy was obviously right. But so was everyone else in the other thread: Thinking in terms of future errors is equally valid. Albert's example in this thread is great to clarify that. Sometimes one of the perspectives is more useful than the other.
