You (Phil) sent me this position except it was the third roll of the game, not the second. 54S, 62R, 31 to play. Here it was right to play 31P because of the fourth checker on the eight. 62R is incorrect here too of course (62H is correct I believe). I think this was the position you meant to post. So, the point you are making is valid.
