Botched Cube Scenario

Since both players didn't catch the error I'd want to find some sort of settlement that doesn't hurt the equity of one player too much. My first thought was to either put the cube in the middle on 2 or freeze the cube at 4 with no more doubling allowed. After thinking about it I think it's reasonable to freeze it on 4 and have them play the game out. I don't think it's fair for either of them to get the cube back in this situation since they both lost track of it's value during play.
