My ruling would be that if one indicates that they are doubling in any discernible way then they have doubled. The fact that the player moved the wrong cube should not matter. If I were to declare "I double" and then realize that it's actually a redouble wouldn't the initial declaration of offering the cube stand? Seems to open possibilities for unethical gamesmanship otherwise.
