That could have been my first book, too, but I spent the extra $1 and bought Jacoby and Crawford's paperback beginner book instead. The disembodied head in a cloud of smoke on Becker's cover reminded me too much of the Wizard of Oz! The cover of J&C had a much more serious look to it. When I flipped through it, I saw it also had more diagrams, so you could say I bought it for the pictures.

That extra dollar was one of my better investments.
