Basically I agree with Tom. If you gain equity by getting lucky, then throw away the equity by making an error, then you can repeat indefinitely and lose arbitrary amounts of equity.

Maybe you're still not satisfied that this explains your hypothetical example, but I'm a bit suspicious that you just made numbers up in your hypothetical example that aren't actually possible in real life. Your example would be more convincing if it were based on an actual position and actual missed-double errors. I think that if you try to construct a real example, you will find that there is no theoretical problem (of losing more equity than is possible, once you take into account the equity that you gain from lucky rolls by you or unlucky rolls by your opponent).
