New rules used in LA

This is a very needed change for at least 2 reasons; to make match play more fair and more efficient.

The logic behind the new rules is:(1) It eliminates the inherent disadvantage one player has in clocked matches. To address this, other federations have adopted cumbersome rules that involve resetting the clock, etc. Allowing a die to land on a checker seems much more efficient. (2) It saves time and energy. In most human endeavors it is considered an advancement when something is created that saves time and energy. We should be happy with such a creation!

Allowing a die on a checker to be counted was something that was allowed for 1000's of years. I believe the reason it was changed was to protect people from being cheated by dice mechanics that would drop a die on the checker as they rolled, often with their hand, or palmed a die when using a cup, and dropped it on the die, as they rolled. Now we have lipped cup and rules that state how the dice must be rolled. We do not have to worry about a die being placed on a checker by a mechanic.
