When cars in front of you are slowing down for no apparent reason, there may be a good reason !

I can't tell you how many speeding tickets I've avoided because I scan the horizon for cars braking "for no apparent reason". The reason is almost always that they are close enough to eyeball the cop car(s).

I also tend to slow way down (on purpose) near the top of a hill (assuming I am over the limit) because you never know what is on the other side.

By the way, I always try to accelerate as I approach a hill because I know my car doesn't have enough pickup to handle steep hills without slowing down far too much for my liking. If only everyone else with cars like mine did the same....
