Good Practice

One thing, among many, I am always mindful of and tried to impress in the minds of my kids is to drive in the right lane on divided highways -- particularly at night and approaching hills/overpasses. The reason is that those drunk, confused, stupid, or otherwise impaired that may be going the wrong direction will oftentimes still manage to drive in their 'right' lane. Thus, though going the wrong direction, they are in the left lane from your perspective. I've had several police officers and emergency personnel confirm to me that more often than not when such collisions occur they are in the left lane.
And that reminds me of one funny little joke:
The elderly lady was worried when she heard on the radio that there was a car driving the wrong direction on the interstate. Her elderly husband had driven himself to the doctor and should be coming home right about now along that very thoroughfare. So, she called him on his cell phone: "Be careful, Homer, I hear on the radio there is a car going the wrong direction on the interstate". He replied: "It's worse than that, Gladys, there's hundreds of 'em !!"
