you're doubtlessly too young to remember that it was 70 before it became 55 and now 65-70 depending on the state and area

so, in many areas, the speed limit is less than it was 35-40 years ago; primary reason? half the drivers get their licenses at Wal-Mart and have no sense of how to drive -- or to do anything else for that matter
