I appreciate the thoughts and help, but I still want to know if there is a quantitative way to estimate the taker's wins. You believe you have more than 16 percent and you take. At what point would you believe you had less than 16 percent. Of course the race is a factor, but also the number of points and where your spares are.

Does the answer lie in strictly knowing reference positions and gut feeling, or are there some rules of thumb or criteria to formulate a winning percentage?
