No, that's exactly what I understood and what I'm saying is explicitly incorrect. Their PR would hardly budge.

I also agree that understanding the opening phase of the game will carry over into the rest of the game in many respects. I'm a big proponent of this. However, understanding at a normal match score is more than enough assuming you actually do understand it.

We don't? If I were the gambling type chap I might take that bet.

I have no idea if Efim is good at table tennis or not but every last damn Russian I meet tells me how good they were at ping pong. [sic] The last one wanted to make a significant wager that he could beat me with a book ... until I seemed overly joyed to make the bet, then it dissipated quickly. As any decent table tennis player knows, a book (or a phone or a CD case or an iPad etc...) makes for a paddle that is ok to beat a recreational player with.
