I think a match score I "hate" would be a good one to practice.
Normally, it is a good idea to practice what you hate so that you improve in this area. Thus, I understand the gist of the above comment. However, it does not apply to 3 point matches. I do not hate these scores. I face these type of scores all of the time when playing 5 point and 11 point matches. In fact I have spent much time studying the particular nuances of 3 away cubing.
I hate 3 point matches because they are so quick, subjected to a higher degree of luck, and much complex cubing strategy is just not present. Thus, I have a low opinion of 3 point matches.
Nevertheless, it would be beneficial for me to practice more DMP's which I avoid because cubeless backgammon bores me. Yet, playing more DMP's would improve my cubeless checker play. I mention DMP's to emphasize that I understand the importance of practicing what you do not like. I have no problem with this concept. But for other mentioned reasons, it just does not apply to my dislike of 3 point matches.
