Brazilian tournament is a very good tournament. Regarding the format, i guess it is a unique format in the world. They open brackets from 16 players from Sunday night until friday night and finals are played saturday and sunday. The goal is to have at least 1 place in the final bracket from 32, but u can have as many places as you get. There were players who have 4 places, and enter in QF(ITM), and others who have only 1 place.Tournament pay 8 places Each registration fee is 200 BR Real (around usd 70). Tournament have a not so formal format and schedule (which include lot of chouettes at the beach or pool, stakes between usd5 and usd10 a point), u can be registered in many brackets at same time without making slowly tournament because you have full day to complete your games, and a full week, u dont need to loose before re entering. And if you want, you can buy your place to be in the final bracket, u have to pay for full bracket (16 X 70usd), I dont agree with this, but this way you can consider that the tournament is only the final bracket from 32 players, and the 16-players brackets are just cheap qualifiers. There is a Superjackpot (around 700 usd reg fee) and Dobles Consultation tournament too during the week. There were around 25 argentinian players, 1 player from Austria, and rest of players were Brazilian. The tournament is very well directed by Ian Mac Farlane and i would highly recomend to everybody who wants to have 1 week of sun, beach, good food and drinks, and of course lot of backgammon action.
