Yeah I had serious doubts about his recommended play when I saw this position 35 years ago. If you close the board and get away with it you don't have to worry about closing it later and that is huge.

Also isn't it 14 crackers after playing 6/1?

9 rolls cannot move from the 20 pt. 22 and 21 also crack as does 53. That is 9+5=14. Am I missing something?
