Perhaps others can weigh in and tell me why I'm wrong about this, but your scenario seems analogous with "The Trick"

When trailing 3a post-Crawford, the double is automatic, except you may have so few market losers that holding loses very little equity and if you wait until your opponent has a more difficult cube decision you might "trick" her into dropping.

Assuming "perfect" play, the double is automatic. Against a human, you might want to wait and give her a chance to make a mistake. Of course, you have to be careful not to lose your market, and anything gammonish tends to be a market loser.
