I meant no slight against BG variations. My favorite is Bill's Dual Duel.

In fact, I support more. If two players enjoy playing dice-on-boards or Responsible Moves, those variations should be perfectly acceptable. I was in a LM tournament where both myself and my opponent preferred Responsible Moves, so I asked the TD if that was OK and it wasn't.

I don't quite understand your comments:

"I support an international federation for backgammon that would have a standardized ruleset for officially sanctioned competitions.

I support bringing fresh ideas and positive energy into the BG community in many forms, including BG variations."

If tournaments can only play by a fixed ruleset, how do they test fresh ideas? Maybe I'm not understanding what you mean by "standardized".
