Adding variants within the same instance of XG is one of the top improvement I've on my list.

In my mind it will work differently on session and single position.

in session, adding a variation will add entries to the position (you'll be able to expend the actual position to see all its variant).

Single position file will become more like a position library where multiple position can be stored.

It is still at the design stage at this time.
