Backgammon vs. TSA

All that should happen when going through security taking your board as a carry on is if the TSA people don't know what backgammon is, they will pull you aside and swab the checkers quickly for bomb residue. If they do know what it is they likely won't even bother. Personally, esp. depending on the make up of the checkers, I'd rather have them swab them than not anyway. This is very brief so of no real concern to me.

If you have something like a full blown laptop or checkers or a variety of other things in your checked luggage it will certainly be pulled out and inspected every single time.
