The rules are ridiculously biased against the defense. It looked like he was going for the first down. The defender is running full speed to try to stop that. He had less than .5 seconds to recognize a slide and then let up and by the time Flacco actually downed himself defender was a yard away. Cannot go for the head but then the slide moves everything with the level that would have been the waist now being the head.
