I hope NZ adopts the 2.5min/15sec setting in-line with Monte Carlo and I hope in Australia we stick with this setting.

It prevents a player incorporating deliberate time-wasting as a tactic and probably holding up a tournament. Surely this was the primary purpose behind the introduction.

It also embeds a greater skill differential and more unique look to speedgammon.
