He is not there yet. If he manages to put himself into contention, then he will choke. We saw that Saturday in an 18 man exhibition tournament in the offseason. The same will happen when there is real pressure.

His long game looked better than what we've seen from Tiger in a long time so that's a huge positive. I was positively shocked to see his ball speed but at the same time I can't help but think that extreme speed is dangerous for his brittle, fused back. If he can stay healthy and motivated in all of 2018, then he has a chance of contending somewhere but I cannot see him winning again, mainly because I think he will choke. Either a snap hooked drive a fat chip or missed short putt will ruin it for him. It will be super interesting if he can hit narrow fairways when under pressure, that will be the real test. It seems some golf writers read too much into his great driving because in my experience you can hit great drives on the range or on generous fairways even when lacking some confidence, but that lacking confidence will be exposed on narrow holes which look tight on from the tee box. I think his chip yips will linger in the remainder of his career. I estimate that he is on the 17th tee box in his career.

But all the best to Tiger! Golf tournaments are more interesting when Tiger is a factor!
