I think the paper they released is very vague to say the least [...] deprive Stockfish of it's endgame database just to defeat it?? And then what about all that huge computing power (about 30 times more) they gave to A0 compared to Stockfish? That was not a fair competition.

I basically agree.

There's a suspicion they just trained it to defeat SF.

That sounds slightly ridiculous to me. Link?

Can it defeat other equally strong bots? Remains to be seen at the next computer chess championship.

Good question, and I don't think that we will see A0 participating in a world championship.
