It looks like it would be a new era in chess openings. I don't think the AI would have a big impact in backgammon because there are only a few choices and the difference is very small so I don't expect interest from Deep Mind even maybe it would take half an hour to train it. Maybe one day they will do it anyway, let's se what happens with the chess for PC.
