Playing the last two 7pointers on 3.98 and 2.98 PR at bg studio, with the 'new' fourfold at my mirror, I believe, there is some value in the book. You has pointed out: how much time I will sacrifice, to reach a certain goal. What am I able to do. Can I perform an advanced pip-count? Can I do a pip-count in 3-5 seconds, with a difference count? Playing backgammon for nearley 35 years now with differeng intensity, I see for the time, how to put all the knowledge better together (FOR ME). Phil Simborg said it: people are different. You have to find your way. If you want to play the big jackpot, you have to work hard. No way. But if it is your goal, just to have fun, to play with a decent PR, it is a very nice card for 'play-calling'. Remember "What's your game plan?" A terrific book, but a descriptive way, about one position after one position after one position. If you are going back even a little bit further, there is the famous "bold play vs. safe play" equation, in words. You can apply it on a bunch of positions. You don't have to remember a set of positions. You don't have to calculate. The unique trick of "Pure Strategy" is: to imitate the 'thinking prozess' of a bot, without 'thinking' like a bot.
