First, let's calculate white's takepoint:

Passing results in 10aC for about 4% MWC Taking and immediately recubing gets white to 2a3a if she wins for about 60% MWC And of course, taking and losing loese the match, so she'd be risking 4 to gain 54.

TP = r/(r+g) = 4/60 = 1/15 or about 7%.

Does white have 7% here? She has a speed board, but blue has four more checkers off and leads by 15 pips, or 21 after making adjustments for checkers off and empty points. Point of last take is 5, and figuring 2% per pip that only gets white to about a 12 pip deficit to take if I've done the math right.

Since this is an O'hagen post, I'll assume I must have muffed the calculation above since his problems are usually much closer. But I'll say R/P.
