Since the consolation bracket is made up of players who got knocked off in the first round of the main bracket, is it not made up of weaker players?

We assign slots in the main brackets randomly. It looks to me that the winners of the first round, as a group, ought to be a stronger set of players than the losers.

Thus, winning n matches in the main brackets should have more merit than winning n matches in the consolation bracket.
