Malcolm Davis Masters Jackpot

Malcolm Davis is one of the greatest players in the game. He is a Texan. He is a University of Texas fan, if not a grad. He always wears a cap with a Longhorn on it.
Malcolm always wanted to win one of the Longhorn trophies -- I think he lost in the final once or twice and in the semifinal once.
We wanted to honor Texas's greatest player. We would never give him a Longhorn trophy -- a Texan of great honor, integrity, and pride would only want one of the trophies if he earned it.
So, last year we changed the name of the event from the Longhorn Classic Masters to the Malcolm Davis Longhorn Classic Masters. We thought it most fitting. The support for the gesture has been unanimous.
In my opinion it is one of backgammon's most beautiful and identifiable trophies -- all elite players would love to win the event. For most players it is even more significant in that it now also includes the name of one of our greatest players and one of our most distinguished gentlemen.
Those who own a Longhorn trophy are -- Arkadiy Tsinis, Alfred Mamlet, Mochy, Michy, Ed O'Laughlin, and now Steve Sax.
