Do players generally play a lower PR ("better") online or live?

I think it's fair to say it will vary not only on a player by player basis, but on an importance of the match or level of seriousness involved.
For example, when I used to play online a lot I'm sure my Dailygammon PR was much higher than my Gridgammon PR. On DG I'd play a ton of matches autoclicking many decisions and typically my opposition was much worse there too so I'd make many AtO decisions that would beat up my PR pretty badly. I'd also surf online while playing or watch tv or send texts, all the crap we all do multitasking to make sure we do every task poorly. On Gridgammon I'd maybe play one match a day and often attempt to focus on playing.
Live PR? Again, it depends. I'd be willing to bet that my last chance PR is (much?) worse than my ITM PR. The last chance road is long and the payoff is short and if I even show up I don't care too much. It's more of a I have nothing better to do since my flight isn't until the next day might as well try to shove some checkers around kind of match opposed to when there's still a lot more at stake.
Some people get nervous in big matches which I've never understood but it happens. Surely they play worse because of this.
Having the pip count staring you in the face should and I believe does keep some players away from some errors they would make OtB. I even prefer having it toggled on because it saves me work. Less so these days since legal moves is in effect but there are a few players who online are unable to make illegal moves to their detriment as they would live. Some players may be a lot more comfortable playing online than live or vice versa. Online may set some players up for going only one direction and they get to live and are forced to go the other way and that throws them off.
Or perhaps such a situation as Stanley Richards noted back in 2011 where a player makes bad decisions because of what is at stake instead of simply making what they know to be the correct decision.
My PR at European tournaments is probably better than US tournaments because of the later start time. My PR at the San Antonio tournament would likely be higher than most tournaments because I play backgammon all day and try to watch the Australian Open all night. My PR at a tournament where I live in that town opposed to where I have to travel to get to it should be lower. And on and on and on...there are a zillion reasons for any individual to play better or worse given the circumstances. Some of them may cancel each other out, some may not.
In short, generally? I have no idea.
