This actually happened to me a couple weeks ago at our local tournament. It was DMP an I was down to about 30 seconds on my clock ( the only thing I have in common with Mochy) and I tapped the checker for the hit on a pick and pass, hit the clock and then placed the checker on the bar. Immediately, I sensed an internal "Uh-Oh" and we called for a ruling. We were playing legal moves and based in part on the fact that I tapped the checker, the ruling was in my favor. I was able to replay the same move in the correct order.

Alas, I still lost the game and match to his "never ending set of doubles." 😲
