The question is what does “explicitly hit” mean? I wouldn’t have thought that merely tapping a checker means it’s explicitly hit, but I can see why some people might think so. Maybe that’s even what the original rule writers had in mind. (But why didn’t they say tapping if that’s what they meant?)

Anyway, when the rule is clarified, I hope that merely tapping does not constitute a hit. And that if the position is legal when the clock is hit, that the position stands. Players have a responsibility to move their checkers clearly and to do it on their own time.
