I agree Neil we need more experience - I was watching a replay of a match between MCG and Akiko from the recent Chicago USA vs Japan - I don't think anyone thinks MCG is known as a slow player. A 7 point match at 0-0 and Matt had a 3-2 to play, he could double hit inside and leave a blot on ace, make his 11 point and advance his lone checker from the back, just hit once and so on. He spent over 2.5 minutes looking at each option. The extra time was an investment he thought worth it and determined his game plan. If we cut it down to 1 min per move I doubt he'd invest that time, consequently the quality of the play must go down. I bet in a few seconds Matt could tell you what XG thought is best play but there is more to it best play sometimes.
