Sorry Rich, but I cannot agree with you. Having a discussion about whether he did or did not go through and having to decide whether he did or did not, which could be influenced by how good or bad the role is, could still cause problems and tension between the players. The way we did it there is simply no discussion or argument or suspicion that someone is making a judgment based on how good or bad the roll is. It simply stands.

We are not recommending as you suggested, that you just throw the dice directly onto the board. The dice must’ve certainly hit the baffle box along it’s travels and I question that anyone can hit a dice against the baffle box have it bounce over the top and have any affect on what the roll is.

Just as you have recommended regarding the dice on the check a rule, I ask you to reserve judgment until you’ve tried it. If you try it, I think you will see the flaw in your approach and the beauty of this approach.
