Both plays look sound to me. Hitting loose offers both players many opportunities to make mistakes, while bringing them in steers the game towards rolling the dice and making easy plays.

So, if I were playing someone not as good as me I'd hit loose, but if playing a bot or someone much better I'd make the quiet play.

The quiet play would probably lower my overall PR since I'd probably make enough errors with the loose hit to balance out whatever I loose. And since I'm not sure that the quiet play actually loses equity, that's my choice.
