Suppose there are three players at the table: a good player, a bad one, and one intermediate. Suppose all three have a bankroll of $50K. The good one buys in for $50K in chips (generally, there would be buy-in limits), the bad one buys in for $500 in chips, and the intermediate is faced with a choice of how much to buy in for. If the intermediate buys in for more than $500 he's cutting his win rate.
I doubt the intermediate is cutting his win rate, possibly decreasing his loss rate if you want to look at it that way? I doubt he has a win rate in this scenario - both the intermediate player & the novice will lose their entire rolls.
