In Response To: Advancing the anchor on small doubles (Joseph Pregler)

To my eye, the factors that argue against making the bar point are: a) Blue's blot on the 11-point; and b) Blue's game plan. Blue's priority is containing White's back men, and for this he needs the 9-point, not the 11-point. If the blot were on the 9-point, I would happily play 20/18(2) 13/9. But in the posted position the bar point is not the priority.
