Opinion poll: I say don't use either + or -

Largely because of Snowie and XG, I clearly believe that + means you have more pips and are therefore losing in the pip count.
This has ALWAYS been confusing for my students and for new players to the game, and I have often given lessons, particularly on the concept of game plan, where a student has chosen the wrong game plan because he looked at XG's pip count and thought he was winning the race by 10 pips when he was really losing the race.
So this is confusing.
I think we might consider completely scrapping the + and - designations completely for something less ambiguous.
How about A for ahead and B for behind? No question about that meaning.
