Clarification

Hi Nack, As many have pointed out, the methodology which reached a correct conclusion by happenstance in the specific situation set forth in the original post would not work or might not work in variants of that specific situation. However, the original post limits the discussion to 25% situations in early games of long matches. (Others have discussed 28% or 45% cubes, live cubes, matches of different lengths, and other variants; and when that happens I refer them back to the original position.) Many players assume that a 25% chance in the original position equates to a take, but it's wrong to take. So I asked the question "Why not pass?" and the answer (which I don't think you're disputing) is that it's correct to pass every cube in this 25% situation at 13a13a, 13a12a, etc. through 13a6a. And it doesn't matter how you arrived at the 13a score -- it's irrelevant if you passed several cubes in a row or lost a doubled backgammon in the first game. It's a take only when the score gets to 13a5a.
