Feedback and information and opinions are always good to have. I think you have to give a lot of credit to Lynn and Jeb who ran the tournament, and Julia who worked hard all weekend to set up the streaming.
Most don't know that behind the scenes Matt Reklaitis set up the technology for the commentary. How great was it to include Falafel doing commentary from Israel on the finals with me, while I was in Vegas?
And let's not forget the USBGF for their support of streaming. Tournament directors don't make money from streaming...it costs them time and money, but it's good for the game and it's great for those of us who want to watch important matches while they are being played and/or later once they are on YouTube.
This is the kind of thing that can be greatly improved and standardized but it should not be left to the expense and efforts of each individual tournament. This is one of the things the USBGF should be doing, and it's just another reason why everyone should support the organization and pay their dues even if you don't go to many tournaments. It's just good for the game.
As Michelle pointed out, it is so easy to sit back and just nit pick and criticize. Larry Shiller spent a lot of his own personal time and expense bringing us streaming from around the world and all he got was criticism for people who didn't like his style or whatever else they didn't like.
Again, feedback and suggestions are good, but if you really want to see better streaming, join the USBGF and send in a small donation (tax deductible) to the streaming fund.
