I am positive this was not a theoretical recube based on the fact my opponent would likely pass any cube where my equity was .8 or higher, to preserve his win, since that is his MO and it was the last game of the chouette. He would be very reluctant to take a 16-cube from me, after having taken an 8-cube from Player B, and see his win totally evaporate. I am sure I often reach a position, either after being hit or in the bearoff, where my equity is between .8 and .9x. To risk .009 now for the possible chance at a gammon, armed with that knowledge, must be right.

Practically, you could well be right, as I did misplay the 6-1, and could have made further errors down the road.
