Ruling questions from Cyprus

I was having another think about this.
As per your post, which I essentially agreed with, pressing the clock ought to be the signal for ultimately making ones decision; players can make tentative moves and change their mind, possibly reading signals, so maybe that should include deciding upon a take/pass as well - at least when on the clock. But, what if a player picks up the cube on their turn, puts it down in the middle of the board on the requisite number for a double/redouble, pauses, then instead of pressing their clock they replace the cube and roll their dice?! Isn't allowing that consistent with allowing the pass after returning the cube from the bear-off tray?
