Steve was one of the finest players and one of the the finest people on the backgammon circuit. He was my greatest nemesis, but I was always happy to play him because everything that has been said in this thread describes Steve perfectly.

I just moved to Minneapolis, and John Pirner and I played a chouette with Steve at his home this past Saturday. He was in wonderful spirits and seemed to be doing about as well as one could have hoped, given his health issues. I was looking forward to many more visits, but sadly it was not to be.

A great loss for the backgammon community and all those who knew this very good man.
